I love my Cree LED Flashlight from OxyLED! It is handy to keep for emergency purposes, camping trips, or wherever you will need a light source.
The flashlight is a little less than 5-1/2 inches long, with an outside material made of aluminum alloy.
I have no significant complaints regarding this flashlight. It’s very bright and powerful, with 500 lumens to brighten up any room. I’ve had a flashlight/torch with 200 lumens in the past and thought that was powerful, but an upgrade to a 500 lumen flashlight is even more to brag about! I have included a photo below just so you can take a look at the LED size on this flashlight.
The light is very focused and not scattered, thanks to the design of the head of the flashlight.
The flashlight comes with 3 available brightness settings, depending on your needs: low, medium, and high beam. Additional features included an SOS setting and a strobe setting. Just press the green button on the bottom of the flashlight to activate the light and/or switch between settings.
This particular flashlight can be used as a deterrent too, in case personal protection was necessary. The bright light is very blinding, and turning on the strobe setting can be disorienting if pointed straight at the eyes. For a female, this can be good to put on a purse for extra protection. The head of the flashlight, because of it’s design, is also useful as a defensive weapon if force was necessary (like striking the eyes of a predator).
The manufacture states that this is waterproof, but I would say “only to a certain extent” to be on the safe side. I wouldn’t allow this to be submerged under water for prolong periods. It is waterproof enough to keep the water out from minor water exposure (like a rain pour), but I doubt this can be used for underwater diving. That is not what this flashlight is made for, so don’t even try it. LOL.
I really like the fact that this flashlight set comes with a professional case included. It just gives it value, in my opinion.
The set comes complete with a rechargeable battery, charger, a user manual, and a warranty card. To charge the flashlight, just put the blue battery into the included charger, connect the power cord, and wait.
There is also a battery adapter included (it’s inside the flashlight, in case you were looking for it). The adapter gives you the option to use 3 AAA batteries, if you’d rather use those than the blue rechargeable 18650 battery that you see in the photo above. Having both options available is a PLUS on my rating!
If you were out camping with your family or friends, I suggest bringing both. Charge the blue 18650 battery and use that, then use the AAA battery adapter option as a backup… since obviously, you cannot use an AC charger on a camping trip with no electric hook-up.
Wondering where to get this torch light? The OxyLED MD50 Cree 500 Lumen LED Flashlight is currently being sold on Amazon, and available at a 50 percent discount at the time of this writing.
How come when charging my battery, the indicator light on the charger is a solid red instead of a blinking red, is this normal?
