Anything rechargeable gets my attention. Anything solar gets even more of my attention!! LOL
We’ll I’m happy to report that I’m satisfied so far with this Bulldog LED Solar Rechargeable Lantern that I received in the mail at a discount.
This solar light unit collapses when not in use, and is at a height of about 5 inches when in the off position, making it a very portable unit to carry and store. It’s not going to be a problem packing this on your backpack on a camping trip due to its small size. Even in the ON position, it’s still small enough but gives a decent output of light with its 8 LEDS. The light is in the white spectrum, which is brighter. I prefer white lights of the LED over the orange/yellow lights of traditional light bulbs.
By the way, to turn the lantern on, all you need to do is pull the “head” (for lack of a better word) out or upward. This will immediately activate the light. Easy, isn’t it? First, it will look like you have a little canister, but when you pull the top section upward/out, you will uncover the LED light hidden within.
The lantern has a handle too, so you can carry it around or hang it on a branch or something.
There are 2 available ways to power the Bulldog LED G-85 Light Solar Rechargeable Lantern, both of which together will ensure that you will have the light that you need. First it has an internal battery source (has 800mAH, according to the sales material), which can be re-charged by the sun with the solar film on the “head” of the lantern.
A second source of power for the lights is a compartment on the bottom of the lantern than can hold 3 AA batteries.
I almost forgot to mention that there’s also another way to recharge the internal batteries. If you were wondering what the other port was for with 2 male prongs, that is where you can plug in the power cord that connects to the AC/electrical outlet. It’s a good backup plan in case the sun doesn’t come out but you have AC power available.
When the power cord is plugged into the port and then connected to your AC wall outlet, there is a red LED light that will turn on, telling you that you are actively charging.
In case you were wondering what the USB port is for that is located on the head/top section of the lantern, it is a way to power up your smartphone device in an emergency situation. It’s not a USB charger though, so don’t get that confused; the internal battery does not hold enough “juice” to be able to recharge your smartphone completely, since it’s only got 800mAH capacity. For example, my Android phone has a battery with a capacity of 2600mAH to be fully charged. And if I understand it correctly, using this can deplete the power available to run the LED light so I would only use it to power a phone in an urgent situation at night.
The copper-looking color of this lantern only adds to the look; it kind of makes it appear like a vintage device until you see it up close and realize that it’s got a small solar panel on the top (=
Before I forget, let me add that the package does not include any instruction manual, so you’ll have to use your head knowlege LOL. The lantern is simple though and has no complicated buttons or switches, so you’ll be able to figure things out with common sense. I know I did (=
By the way, I need to warn you that this lantern is NOT waterproof so don’t get it soaked! It’s not meant for rugged use, so don’t think you can throw this around.
If you or your family likes to go camping, the Bulldog LED G-85 Solar Rechargeable Lantern Light is something to consider bringing. It is currently being sold on Amazon where it is being offered with FREE SHIPPING at the time of this writing.
Go camping with a reliable source of light such as this one! By the way, it’s also a good backup light source to keep at home in case the power goes out. You wouldn’t want to grope in the dark during a storm, would you?
Hi,
Just to check how long do I need to charge using power cord 6A205V to get Bulldog LED G85 Solar Lantern fully charge ?
