It is always a good idea to have a backup power supply for your small electronics, especially when you are out of the house frequently. I’ve been stuck before at someone’s house with not enough juice on my cellphone and nobody else around me with an Android power plug. That’s why keeping the ActionPie KP-W120 Qi Wireless 12000mAH Battery Power Bank Charger handy is a useful thing. I keep mine in a backpack or in the glove compartment.
Before I go on any further, let me show you the basic parts. The top section holds the 2 USB output ports.
The power button is on the right…
And the input button (for recharging purposes), is on the left…
THE PROS:
– It has 2 USB ports to charge an Android or Apple device. That means my wife and I or anyone else don’t need to fight over it, since we can both charge ours simultaneously.
– Comes with a charging cable with 2 split heads: one being able to accept a Micro-USB device such as the one my Android phone uses, and the other being able to accept an Apple device with the included lightning connection. Some power banks that I’ve seen don’t even include a USB power cord, much less one that has both types in it… so this gets a thumbs up!
– This has a wireless charging capability for Q-enabled devices. I consider that a nice bonus. That means you can charge 3 devices at the same time — and with 12,000 mAH of stored energy, you should have no problem!
– Digital display for charge levels: Many power banks I’ve seen use small lights that are lined up like a gauge to give you an idea of how much charge is left. The ActionPie Qi Wireless 12000mAH Power Bank is the first I’ve seen with an LCD display of how much percentage is left in the battery bank. It’s a pretty useful tool!
Another thing to add is that when you have 2 devices charging on the USB ports at the same time, you’ll also see a display on the LCD. On the photo I have uploaded below, you can see that one of the ports is charging a device at 5 volts with 2.1 amps. The other is the same but with 1.0 amps. You’ll notice the word “OUT” meaning power is coming out of the bank into your device(s). With the LCD display, you can always tell which port you have plugged it into. When you are re-charging the battery bank, you’ll also see the current charge levels and the word “IN” to let you know you are adding “battery juice” to the bank. Because of the 12,000mAH capacity of the ActionPie KP-W120, it takes some time to fully recharge the bank. From 83% level, it took me about 4 hours or so to recharge it back to 100% level.
– Portability: It’s about the length of half a standard ruler and a width as long as one of my fingers. Fits just right in my glove compartment or in the backpack pocket.
– Flashlight: It’s got a built-in mini flashlight. This device just doesn’t stop giving, doesn’t it! Handy for emergency use. Now, it’s not as bright as a regular flashlight, but it’s enough to be able to search for something you dropped in the floor of your vehicle or to look for tools in the dark if you ever get stuck on the road. The mini light is located between the 2 USB ports as you can see below. Clicking the power button twice activates the light. You’ll hear a beep from the ActionPie KP-W120.
THE CONS:
At this time, I don’t have much of a complaint! If I’m gonna be nit-picky, I’d probably wish for a 2-year warranty to make it more reassuring. However, the 1 year warranty is nothing to complain about. As far as quality, it seems to be decent. The case is made of plastic; the top cover is my main area of concern. I suggest you take good care when handling this to ensure you don’t drop the ActionPie KP-W120 Qi Wireless 12000mAH Power Bank unto a hard floor. I can imagine the cover breaking off, but hopefully the inside components will remain intact. However, there is a 1 year warranty to hopefully cover any damages or defects in the future.
The ActionPie KP-W120 Qi Wireless 12000mAH Battery Power Bank Charger is currently being sold on Amazon at a 60 percent discount at the time of this writing.
