This is a nifty little gadget that you can use pretty much to track anything you might want to keep an eye on! I am referring to the Circo Real Time GPS Tracker as shown below. Small enough to fit a lot of uses!
I received mine quickly with no shipping uses and was really excited to test it out. Unboxed, this is what you should get:
Possible Ideas for Using the Athentek Circo Real Time GPS Tracker:
As soon as I received it, many ideas were running through my head about how I can use the Circo GPS tracker in our household! Below are just some of them.
– Nanny car tracker – if you let your nanny borrow your car to do some errands, here’s a good way to track and make sure your vehicle is always accounted for, in case something happens. Just leave it in the glove compartment or somewhere and it is set to go. It’s also useful, if you just want to make sure she only uses it for household errands — and not use it for personal shopping sprees, dates, and getaways without your permission!
– Child tracker – drop it in their backpack before they leave for school, stay over a friend’s house, or go to a weekend activity or other trips. Now you don’t have to worry about their whereabouts. The GPS tracker will send you real time tracking info!
– Tracking device as a security precaution – drop it in your purse of pocket before you meet someone off of Craigslist or other online marketplace. In case something terrible happens, then at least your loved ones have a way to track down your last location when they have the app installed on their smartphone or other small electronic device.
The tracking device uses a combination of GPS, wifi, and network signals to give you the best approximate location possible! Starting was so easy, but make sure that you have a SIM card available with a data plan attached to it. Without an activated SIM card, the tracker won’t be complete; this is how you will receive real-time alerts from the tracking device to your smartphone. You can use a service from SimpleMobile such as this $0.99 SIM Card offer to get the full functionality. FreedomPop also provides a $0.99 SIM card offer at this time. You are free to choose any carrier as long as the SIM card fits. You can also put in your T-Mobile sim card, if you have multiple mobile phones in your household. The Athentek Circo GPS Tracking device uses a micro sim card.
The only other thing left for you to do is download the app for the Circo GPS Tracker. I had an android smartphone, so my app was downloaded at the Google Play store. When you download and install the app, you’ll be able to login and get started with the process right away. Signing up is easy, and can be done within the app immediately without having to open up a separate internet browser on your desktop computer. It’s really that easy!
Once the tracking device is added to the app software successfully, you are all set to go. The QR-code on the instruction booklet made it easier to add the device to the app. If you prefer to enter it manually, just type in the numbers/digits shown on the tracking device. You should see a sticker there with the QR-code and digits/numbers on the bottom.
Mine tracked almost instantly, and I must say, the tracker was pretty accurate when it comes to the proximity of my location. Here is just a small picture of what you’ll see in the tracker app. It shows your location using Google maps, complete with street name views and such. (Of course, I’m not gonna show my actual street location on this pic, for my own security).
The initial display and tracking info will be shown like this:
Subsequent tracking info will be like this:
In the photo above, you will see “CIRCOTRACKER” — which is just what I named the device for the sake of this article. When you add the tracker, you can name it to anything unique that you want. You will receive regular updates on the location, complete with the time stamps.
The app also provides other options such as: safe zone, tagging, members, path. It will be more clear what those means once you’ve actually added the tracking device into the app. These are all very useful options.
Where to Buy the Athentek Circo Real Time GPS Tracker:
If you are looking for that additional peace of mind, the Circo Real Time GPS Tracker can help with some of your worries. It is currently being sold on Amazon at a 44 percent discount at the time of this writing.
I saw some negative reviews there, but I think those are just user-related errors. Setup can be a little complicated/overwhelming, if you don’t have a little bit of technical know-how.
I was able to setup properly, and I was satisfied with the tracking info provided. If I find any faults, I’ll update this post with the results.
