Due to the Texas heat in the summer months, the best time to go on a bike excursion with my family is early in the morning, very late in the afternoon, or early in the evening. Because of our schedules, we’ve often been able to manage to go biking later on in the day, sometimes — if not often — getting caught as the sun goes down the horizon and disappears. For safety reasons, it is certainly good to carry a source of light. I’ve had to carry a flashlight at times, and perform a balancing act on the bike– with one hand on the flashlight and the other on the handle bar. I no longer need to. Pictured below is the Cycle Torch Shark 500 Bike Light, a useful attachment for the bike in situations such as ours.
I was impressed with the packaging. They actually took care to ensure the items inside are well-protected, with foam padding molded to the accessories. The packaging appears to be made of tough material, and I can see myself reusing the case for storage purposes when the bike light is not in use.
Contents include the following: a simple user manual, a large light unit for the front, a smaller light unit for the rear of the bike (which is a great bonus to have!), and a USB cord for charging purposes.
The bike headlight is designed to focus the beam in a particular area, as you can see in the photo above. My guess is that this also helps avoid glare to oncoming traffic, which can cause accidents.
One of the features I love about this bike light set is that the units are rechargeable. Even the smaller rear light can be recharged, and you can see the charging input in the photo below for reference. Just connect the included USB cords to the inputs on the light units and plug it into your USB power adapter (or USB port on your computer) and you’re adding more battery juice to prepare for the next trip! I love that I don’t have to buy new batteries each time they run out of power (unless of course, these units stop taking in charge… but hopefully, that won’t be necessary for a long while).
Attaching the lights to your bike is not very complicated. It’s as easy as snap and go! We have adult and kids bikes at home, and fits all without problem. The main headlight has a power button on the top. Just press it to turn on . Depress it for a few light settings (low to high), including strobe. With the rear light, all you have to do is squeeze (depress) the red LED portion and it turns on. Very easy, right?
By the way, the good thing about the bike headlight as an attachment is that it also doubles as a portable flashlight. Just unstrap the light and now you can carry a flashlight wherever you need to go! That’s pretty handy, and the light emitted is strong and bright.
If you are looking to have a bike light attachment of your own to use on your biking excursions, the Cycle Torch Shark 500 Bike Light, which comes with a rear light bonus, should meet your needs. It is currently available at Amazon at a 76% discount at the time of this writing. If you have Amazon Prime, you can get it in 2 days.
