Going for a night ride on the bike? This will surely catch the attention of everyone! I am referring to these Speed Racer Rim and Wheel LED Lights which are shown below.
Just to give you an idea of what’s included, take a look at this picture. You will receive 6 LED lights and the included adapters. You can see 2 of such adapters in the photo below. As far as the LED lights are concerned, you will be able to choose from 3 different colors, depending on your preference: green, blue, and multi-color.
The way this works is that you simply attach the LED gadget to the valve stem on the bike. It can replace the current valve covers that you have (but if you were like me, I’d recommend saving those valve covers in case you are missing any in the future). Just twist it on like a regular valve and you’re all set. It’s really that simple! However, before you do so, make sure you screw in the adapter first. Without the adapter, you won’t be able to connect the LED light to the valves. The main unit with the LED light has grooves for screwing the adapter in as seen in this closeup.
The LED light has a built-in motion detection function, so it “knows” when the bicycle is on the move and activates the light. You really don’t have to turn on anything, so that’s a convenient feature of this particular bike light.
I’ve taken my bike out at night with these Speed Racer LED rim lights and the kids have enjoyed the light show, and actually amused by it (My 3 little girls are easy to please!). The darker the night is, the more prominent the lights become. Be careful though when you go out too late and too dark… the neighbors might think a UFO just wheezed by the road! LOL!
Once others in the neighborhood have seen this, they might want it too… without buying it for themselves! So…I suggest keeping the LED lights stored elsewhere when your bike is parked outside and left unattended for some time. That’s where the old valve — that I suggested you keep in the beginning of this post — comes in handy. I say, better safe than sorry!
By the way, because it uses a standard valve size, this LED wheel light gadget can be put on any vehicle, really — and not just your bicycle.
However, I’d make sure wheel lights are street legal in your state first if you were to actually use this regularly on the road. Otherwise, you can get pulled over… as you won’t be hard to miss by the cops with these lights on your tires (=
Just to show you different possible applications, I put the LED light unto the tires of a couple of “toys” I have in the garage.
You can put it on a go-cart:
You can put it on an electric scooter:
I’m sure you can think of others.
LED lights are known to last, and the makers of the Speed Racer Bike Rim/Wheel LED light boast longevity of at least 50,000 hours.
My only main concern with this Speed Racer Rim Lights is that they are made of plastic material, so I don’t know how long they can last or handle rough rides. I sure do hope they can last for a reasonable amount of time. But having 6 of them in a package, I guess that’s not too bad. Considering it’s made of plastic, I now laugh when the sales description reads that this is rust-free…. get it? LOL
Wanna take home this cool little bike gadget? This package of Speed Racer Rim Valve LED Lights is currently being sold at Amazon at a 30 percent discount at the time of this writing.
Have fun!
P.S. – I’ll be uploading a picture taken at night when I have the chance. There are challenges taking pictures in the dark with things that light up, as you might be aware.
