I really needed a set of pliers that was specifically made for fishing. I have been using the plier from my toolbox, but it’s been a hassle taking it out of the toolbox and into my tackle box when it’s time to go fishing, and then back in my tool box again or whenever I need the pliers for household projects. The Suaoki fishing pliers solved my problem.
It’s being sold as a saltwater set of pliers, but I’ve been using the Suaoki Fishing Pliers for freshwater fishing without any problem. I have Amazon Prime, so it arrived quickly in the mail without issues. We have a neighborhood lake next to our property, and I’ve been fishing there for bass.
The jaws of the pliers are made of stainless steel, so it should withstand rigorous fishing and exposure to elements. Some pliers are one-piece of metal that extends from the jaw to the handle — but those are mostly the household tools that undergo more beating from regular use. The stainless steel jaws of the Suaoki fishing plyers are affixed with a screw, but they seem pretty secure.
One of the tips has a small hook-like end, which could be helpful in ensuring a nice grab… or if you have to tear through fish flesh, if needed.
The handles are aluminum, and though I would have liked them to be stainless steel as well, but the aluminum handle is much more practical in a sense; it allows the tool to be lighter in weight than when everything would be stainless steel. This makes it easier to handle, especially when you’re in a canoe like me when freshwater fishing. Plus, I try to pack light if possible.
I’ve been bringing an extra set of scissors when fishing, but I like that this Suaoki fishing plier has a tungsten wire cutter section in its jaws, which is good for cutting thick fishing lines or soft wires. Here’s one view of it. The cutters are also secured with a screw as you can see below:
As an extra benefit, the Suaoki fishing plier comes with its own sheath case that you can mount on your belt if you like. A coiled lanyard comes pretty handy as well, since I’m always worried that I might drop my tools in the water. The lanyard gives me that extra assurance that if I accidentally lose grip on the pliers that they won’t fall in the deep waters where I lose it forever and have to buy another one.
Overall, I’m quite satisfied with my set of Suaoki Fishing Pliers. It’s currently available on Amazon at a 40% discount at the time of this writing.
