Here’s an easy way to light up dark areas in the home without having to fidget on the wall to find the light switch…

I am referring to the MSLPro Motion Sensing Socket Plug pictured below:

Here’s the whole package put together:

The black object that you see in the first photo above is a mini flat-head screwdriver. This tool is used to change settings for your motion-sensing light. There are 3 screw “knobs” in front of the device that you can turn clockwise or counterclockwise depending on your needs.

The first knob controls whether you want the light to turn on based on the amount of light or turn on only based on motion that it detects. The second controls the length of time you want the light to stay on once it is triggered (varies from 25 seconds to 5 minutes). The third controls the sensitivity of the sensor being triggered by motion at a certain distance.

As you may have noticed, the MLSPro is different from other night lights you may have seen in the past in that it actually has an LED light bulb the same size as your standard light bulbs in the house (size E27). I verified this by screwing one of the light bulbs we have at home and it fits in just right! I like that because if ever the included MLSPro LED light bulb goes out, I can always replace it with my own LED bulbs.

In fact, I like that because it worked out with my unfortunate situation. But before I explain what that’s all about, let me just say that the included MSLPro LED light bulb uses only 9 watts of energy, which is already energy efficient to begin with. That’s why I prefer LED lights over incandescent any time. The light can turn off automatically when movement is no longer detected, which is an added way to save money on energy. The power switch is located in the back, which is the red button you see in the photo below:

Unfortunately, I was not able to use the 9 watt LED bulb that is included as part of the MSLPro package. During testing, the light would not turn on. At first, I was worried that the whole unit may have been defective. However, my instinct was telling me to rule out the light bulb first as the problem, and I’m happy that I gave my gut-feeling a check. The only way to troubleshoot this was to use a different bulb and see if the problem persists. I sure am glad that I have a 5 watt LED bulb available at home, so I replaced the MSLPro bulb with mine and the motion sensor worked like a charm!

By the way, if you replace the LED bulb, just make sure you are using something that does not exceed 30 watts. At least, that’s what I saw in the label, which can be seen in one of the photos above. Here is the result using MY OWN led light bulb being used in the vanity room…

You can put this in the hallway too, or wherever there is an available power outlet. Remember, my own led light bulb is only 5 watts, so I can imagine the MSLPro to be brighter than mine if only I had a working bulb in the package…

I don’t know if mine was part of a defective batch during the LED light production process, but I need an MSLPro LED bulb replacement for sure. I have contacted Amazon support for a full replacement due to a defective item, but the rep on the other end of the line explained that I will be given a credit/refund instead since the unit is from a 3rd party seller. They are supposed to email me with a return label so I can ship the item back (I’m still waiting for the email). Once Amazon receives the item, I was told the refund/credit will be given, after which, I can then use that credit to purchase a new order for the MSLPro Motion Sensing Socket Plug. Aaargh!!! It’s somewhat inconvenient to have to go through all the process, but I just have to be patient about it, I guess. If that fails, hopefully I can contact the manufacturer directly for a replacement bulb, since I was sent a defective one. I saw an email address in the instruction manual.

I tested the motion sensors to see if they can actually pick up any movements and they did. Using the maximum setting, I was able to trigger the light on movement at a distance of about 25 feet (if facing directly) and about 3 to 5 feet if I’m on the side (90 degrees from the sensors)

I believe this is not meant for outdoor use, but if you have a covered front or back porch, the MSLPro Motion Sensing Socket Plug can also be used as a deterrent for an added security at home. It’s easy because it doesn’t require any wires. Just plug it into your existing patio outlet and that’s it! When motion is detected at night, it will automatically light up to frighten potential intruders. Just make sure it is located in a covered area, away from moisture or where it can get wet directly. If your patio outlet is grounded (which it should be), that’s even better as an added protection.
