We have an 18-month old at home that is getting more and more curious each day. I have already secured some cabinets where dangerous things are kept, but just recently I observed her opening the kitchen cabinet for our trash and pulling out stuff from there. I honestly don’t know if she’s ever tried to eat anything out of that trash receptable when we have our eyes elsewhere. It’s disgusting to think about, I know. That’s where the WONDERKID Safety Locks come in handy at this time.
The package comes with 6 safety latches, plus an extra pair of 3M adhesive pads in case there’s any need for them in the future.
One thing I like about these set of safety locks is that the Wonderkid does not require any drilling of any sort. That makes my wife happy that I don’t have to put holes on her cabinets. She chose the cabinets and are picky about what happens to them. The strong 3M tape does the job just fine!
The instructions are easy to follow. I have taken a photo of it so you can see this for yourself (see below). There’s a section that is not included in the picture, which is a drawn illustration of the latches and how to install them.
The band or strap for the latches have small grooves in them that are secured by the clip (for lack of a better word) shown below.
The cover of the clip slides off so that you can adjust the strap accordingly, depending on where you want to put the lock. If I were you, I would test it out first on a cabinet so that I can get an idea of the length of strap needed.
The other end of the strap contains the actual locking mechanism. I have shown it here so you can take a look at it:
And here is the final layout once the set is installed:
The left side is the ‘clip’ that disengages the lock so that you can open the cabinet or drawer. Slide the gray-colored bit towards the left and pull it out. You might have to push it in first before sliding and pulling out. This will release the strap and now you can open the cabinet/drawer as needed.
You can set the safety lock at any configuration. In this photo, I had no choice but to put one part of the strap in the front, while the other to the side of the structure. It still works well this way and doesn’t change how the locking mechanism works at all.
The WONDERKID Adjustable Child Safety Lock does exactly what it needs to do. I am feeling better now knowing that our 18-month old is safe and at a lower risk of injuries resulting from hazards contained in the cabinets and drawers in our kitchen. At some point, we may have to add some in our bathroom area. She’s really curious, our little one.
If this is something that you need at home to keep things safely secured from your toddlers and smaller children, a 6-pack box of WONDERKID Top Quality Adjustable Child Safety Locks is currently being sold on Amazon and available at a 43% discount at the time of this writing.
There is a Lifetime Replacement offer that comes with each purchase. The lifetime warranty allows for refund at any time if not satisfied, or a replacement. That’s a good deal right there, if you ask me!
