A recent storm in our area destroyed some electric poles and we lost power in the night for several hours. The only thing we had was the occasional flashlight, and the kids were a little scared, of course. If we’ve had the MSLPro Blackout Light sooner, we’d be in a better position.
The MSLPro Blackout Light is certainly useful in cases, such as the one described above, when a light source is needed in situations where there are blackouts. The MSLPro Blackout Light turns on right away, providing adequate light to comfort everyone at home (especially the little ones).
When the package is opened, you should see the following contents:
– 5-watt LED light bulb with 2835 Epistar LED chips
– flexible plug with E27 base type socket
– instruction manual
– clip
It’s really simple to use. Just connect the bulb to the socket and turn the unit on.
The power switch is located on the bottom of the power plug (red-colored).
The MSLPro Blackout Light has a flexible neck, so you can point it towards any direction to focus the light — whether straight up, to the left, right, or any side, depending on your needs.
Now, you might be wondering what the clip is for that is attached on the flexible neck. It’s for allowing the MSLPro Blackout Light to work even when it’s not plugged in to the AC outlet at home. Take the clip and affix it to the 2-pin prong of the power plug (you’ll see a photo in the manual, in case what I’m saying here confuses you). You can then take it anywhere and turn it on and off at will without the unit being attached to the electric outlet on the wall. That’s convenient, isn’t it?
It uses only 5 watts of energy, which saves money. Don’t let 5 watts fool you. Five-watt LED lights can light up a room. In fact, I’ve been using 5-watt LED lights for a couple of years now to save money and replace our spiral bulbs that use 23 watts. As a reference, the old traditional bulbs use about 60 watts of energy, which I’ve replaced awhile back. That should tell you the savings. Here’s a photo of the cost-efficiency of the MSLPro Blackout Light as shown in their packaging material (NOTE: Their data is based on a 3hrs/day use).
As far as the MSLPro Blackout Light is concerned, it has a multi-purpose use. If you just want to use it as a simple night light on an as needed basis without having to turn on all your lights at night for a bathroom break, you can do so. Just switch it on whenever you need to use it. If you just want to save it as an emergency light and use it only for blackouts, that works too! It’s so portable, you can bring this with you anywhere really. So if you don’t have a flashlight, this can be a temporary backup. What’s so great about it is that it’s rechargeable, which is a convenient feature.
By the way, you might be surprised with this… but did you know you can use the special bulb separately without being connected to the socket? It’s rechargeable, as I’ve mentioned previously so you can remove the bulb from the socket holder. I know, I was surprised with that feature too. Here’s what you need to do: (1) First, turn off the power to the plug to decrease your risk for electric shock; (2) twist the bulb off and pull out; (3) hold the base of the bulb with your hand. Make sure part of your fingers touches the side of the base and another part touches the bottom of the base at the same time. (4) Wait… and then Surprise!!! The bulb turns on!
Isn’t that neat? Good way to entertain and impress kids!
