Most of the folks in my neighborhood use halogen flood lights at night to light up their yard for security and aesthetic reasons. However, halogen lights use at least 100W of energy so I don’t particularly like to use halogen lights to save us on electricity bills. In fact, I have already unscrewed the halogen flood lights for our backyard patio to cut on energy costs.

This LED motion sensor flood light pictured above is a much better alternative. I like that I am only using 10w of energy with brightness that equals that of a 60w bulb, thanks to LED technology!

The LTE Lighting Even 10W LED Motion Sensor Flood Light already comes assembled when it arrives. It comes in a very nice and informative retail box, by the way. It’s pretty much good to go as is, unless you need to make adjustments to the settings (LUX, timing, etc). For your reference, the controls are found on the bottom of the unit, just under the sensor area.

Other than that, it’s ready to be used right out of the box and just needs to be plugged into an available AC outlet. The power cord is not that long (a couple of feet), but I’m guessing that’s more for fire safety hazard reasons. That was not a problem to me because my placement for it in the front patio is just within reach of our grounded patio AC outlet.

OVERALL RESULTS:
So far, so good! The light was bright (white spectrum), which I’m very happy about. I don’t know how to measure brightness, but the retail packaging states 760 lumens which is very bright. I have a 200 lumen flashlight that gets a lot of compliments for its brightness, so this should give you an idea as far as lumens is concerned.

I don’t recommend that you look at the light directly, because it turned ON on me while I was plugging the unit, and it was pretty intense. I’m happy about its level of brightness. The sensors worked just fine. I open the front door and it turns on immediately.

NOT INCLUDED:
The LED unit can be mounted on a wall. I left mine free standing, as it worked just fine that way in its current location. You will need mounting screws because it didn’t come with any (or at least I found none in the package box).
