With 3 little girls at home that want to tinker with everything, having a guitar stand on the floor is not an option for my precious guitars. That is where the FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger comes in handy.
A wall hanger option for my guitar is better because I can hang my instrument out of the girls’ reach, thus decreasing the chance of any of my girls getting a hold of the instrument and breaking/cracking it. One of my guitars is more than 20 years old and still in wonderful working condition, and I’d hate to trash it because of the kids.
In case you were wondering, the FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger can also hold smaller instruments. Here it is being used to hold my ukelele:
The FretRest package came quickly in the mail with the following contents in the box. Minimal assembly will be required.
– 2 screws with drywall screw adapters (if needed)
– the FretRest base
– the FretRest hanger, with 2 circular foam “stoppers”
The metal bracket where the guitar hangs unto is covered with padding to ensure that my guitar finish is not scratched or damaged. This padding is made of foam material. When you open the package, you will also see 2 small circular foam “tubes”
These “tubes” fit on the prongs of the hanger. Just slip them in as shown.
The purpose of these foam “tubes” is to act as a padded “stopper” and provide additional precaution to secure your instrument in place. The padded metal prongs are curved upward and made in such a way so that the guitar does not slip off accidentally.
The main rectangular base that holds the “metal prong hanger” appears to be made of wooden material. It will have a tube going through it. The front of the tube will have a groove/slot. The base of the prongs has an indentation that fits the groove in only 1 way — like a lock and key.
Insert it and then turn the hanger to face the right way and you’re almost done!
Now you just need to screw it to the wall. It’s really that simple to install! The base is held in place to the wall by 2 screws. I suggest that you screw the FretRest on an actual stud in your home’s frame, if you can find one at the right location. That’s more secure than just screwing unto the drywall, even if you were to use one of those drywall screw anchors.
The FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger is currently being sold on Amazon, where it is available at a 57 percent discount at the time of this writing.
