When I see the word “Tyvek,” I normally think of that shiny protective material that they wrap around a house during the home construction process. I’m sure you have seen those too. So I was interested to see what this was all about when I read about the Drive and Win car windshield sunshade/cover with DuPont Tyvek material.

When it arrived in the mail, it was additionally protected with a plastic wrap as you can see below.

When you open the package, you should see the sunshade along with 2 velcro stickers inside the included case.

The velcro strips, if applied properly, helps secure the sunshade in place without having to use the car’s sun visors. They also help give a better fit, as you are able to stretch the sunshade as tight as you want them to fit and cover your windshield. Instead of putting the velcro stickers on the windshield, I put them in another corner which I thought would be the better place for my specific vehicle.

What I noticed right away about the Drive and Win windshield sunshade that features the Tyvek fabric is that it appears to be more durable. It is thicker than the sunshade I currently use, which is just a reflective nylon (it seems). This one not only feels different, but it looks different too. I have posted the photo below so you can see what appears like “fibers” in the material. This is probably what adds to the strength and durability of this product. My old sunshade is already getting ripped, and I can see how this one should last longer.

I’ve never owned a windshield sunshade cover before that has Tyvek, nor have I ever known of one… so this particular brand is unique, as far as I know. I don’t know if this is the same Tyvek material that I’ve seen in the home building process, but if it is, then I’m sure it would be advantageous to have it in a windshield cover as much as the material is important for homes. When I was researching Tyvek online, I also found out that the material has been used as protective clothing as well in certain industries. So Tyvek in a sunshade must also be a good thing. If it’s any good, then it should work well for me in the Texas heat.
